SC&B provides the following benefits to its attorneys:
Associate Attorney Tax Deferred Savings 401(k) Plan
Associate attorneys will be eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan after the completion of four full months of employment. Associate attorneys may make Tax Deferred Savings 401(k) Contributions up to the maximum amount permitted by law on a pre-tax basis through regular payroll deductions. No employer contributions are made to this plan. New employees may rollover a distribution from a former employer's tax-qualified retirement plan into the SC&B plan, subject to applicable tax rules.
Health Insurance Coverage
Medical Care: Group Health/Cigna HealthCare Medical Insurance Employees have six different plans to choose from, with monthly premiums ranging from $13.64 to $128.64 for self coverage. Spouse and dependent(s) coverage is paid in full by the employee. All premiums are deducted from the employee's paycheck on a pre-tax basis.
Dental Care: The Guardian Employee's coverage paid in full by the firm. Spouse and dependent(s) coverage can be deducted from the employee's monthly paycheck on a pre-tax income.
Disability Insurance
Salary Continuation After one year of full time employment, Attorneys are eligible for Salary Continuation if they are unable to work due to injury, sickness, or become permanently disabled. Salary will be continued for a maximum period of the lesser of one year, or the expiration of the waiting period for the firm’s Disability Insurance.
Long-Term Disability Effective on the first day the month after hire. Standard benefits: 60% pay after 90 days. No cost to Associates. Paul Revere benefits: After 2 years, $4000 per month until age 65. No cost to Associates.
Life Insurance
UNUM Life Insurance Voluntary group term life insurance. Priced per $10,000 of coverage, with premiums depending upon age, smoker/nonsmoker. Can be added at any time.
Malpractice
Willis of Seattle Lawyer’s Professional Liability Insurance is supplied at no cost to Associates.
Seminars
Continuing Legal Education Budget of $1,000 each calendar year.
Sabbatical
After five (5) full years as an associate, associates are entitled to take a one-month leave at full salary.
Holidays
Nine (9) days per year.
Transportation Expense Benefit
Transportation expenses are deducted from the employee’s check on a pre-tax basis. The firm contributes $12 toward the purchase of a monthly pass or ticket book for the bus, ferry, train, or for parking.
Employee Referral Plan
$2,000. ($1,000 when referral starts; $1,000 after that referral has completed six months of service.)
Pay Day
The last working day of the month.
Automatic Payroll Deposit
Get your paycheck even if you’re not at work! Have your check directed in up to three (3) accounts; any combination of savings or checking.
Flexible Spending Account(s) Employees may elect to have money withheld on a pre-tax basis and set aside into three different accounts:
Dependent Care Reimbursement $5,000 maximum per calendar year. Administered by Manley Services.
Unreimbursed Medical Expenses $5,000 maximum per plan year (July 1 – June 30). Have pre-tax withdrawals placed into this account for you. You can use the money to reimburse medical visit co-pays, prescription co-pays, and other medical expenses that are not covered by insurance. Administered by Manley Services.
Other Medical Premiums Do you have an individual medical plan for your family? If so, you can pay for their monthly premiums using pre-tax dollars. Administered by Manley Services.
401K Deferred Savings Program
Maximum $15,000 contribution in 2006, $20,000 if you are over or turning 50 in 2006, with IRS limitations. Eligible after four (4) months of employment. (Firm does not make a contribution.)
